Whether you’re already heading down this way, thinking of planning a trip, or just dreaming at your desk, here’s our guide to a long weekend in North Cornwall.
Arrive on Friday afternoon (Newquay Airport is just over 1 hour from London airports), and head straight to Rock. Here you’ll find lots of holiday lets and accommodation options; we strongly advise booking in advance. Unpack your bags, relax, and set your mind to holiday mode.

Pack your blanket and a book, and go straight to the beach. Explore the dunes, climb up Bray Hill, and take in the stunning views of the estuary. Paddle at the waters edge if you’re feeling brave, before heading to The Mariners for a delicious dinner with a fabulous view.

On Saturday morning head straight to the Blue Tomato for breakfast, and watch the light dance on the water whilst you sip your coffee. See if you can spot the famous Porthilly Oyster Beds.

Catch the Ferry over the Estuary to one of Cornwall’s most famous fishing villages, Padstow. Wander the Harbour with its gift shops and galleries, before finding a spot for lunch in one of the many cafes. After lunch, head along the Coast Path on foot to St Saviours Point, or hire a bike and head along the Camel Trail before returning for dinner. Here, you’ll be spoiled for choice, but we recommend Paul Ainsworth at No.6 for a Michelin Starred Fine Dining experience, or Craftworks Kitchen for some of the best street food in Cornwall, with unbeatable views of the Estuary.
On Sunday, head to Polzeath for an early morning surf if you’re feeling energetic. Enjoy a well earned breakfast at one of the local cafes, or head a few minutes up the road to St Kew Farmshop & Cafe for a tasty, and locally sourced breakfast.

Next, head to another of Cornwall’s picture perfect fishing villages, Port Isaac. Get lost in the winding alleyways, and pick out your favourite traditional fishing cottage. Scour the beach for seashells and other gems before lunch. Nathan Outlaws Fish Kitchen is the ideal spot for some lunch time, Michelin Starred Fine Dining with a twist, or set yourself the challenge of finding the best crab sandwich from one of the many local cafes.

Take a stroll down the hill to the neighbouring Port Gaverne, wander the surrounding coast path, and explore the rock pools. If you’re feeling adventurous, this is a great spot for some outdoor adventure with Cornish Rock Tors. Here you can kayak, paddle board, or experience coasteering, and even spot dolphins if you’re really lucky!

Finally, cross the road to Pilchards at the Port Gaverne Hotel for some fabulous food whilst you watch the golden sun setting on the sparkling ocean. The perfect end to a fabulous day.
On Monday morning, pack your bags and head to Strong Adolfo’s Cafe here at Hawksfield for an excellent coffee and a delicious breakfast. Browse the shops and boutiques. Come and say “hello” to us at Jo&Co, and experience our shopping haven first hand.

Take the coastal road back to the airport at Newquay, stopping off at many of the natural beauty spots along the way.

We hope you enjoy your stay, please come back and visit us soon!

**It’s always worth checking before visiting, as some places may be operating a seasonal timetable / only accept bookings / take cash only. **
