"Never underestimate the power of a good night's sleep."

With diet and exercise often taking the centre stage when it comes to adopting a healthy lifestyle, the power of sleep is sometimes overlooked. Need to recover after that intense gym session? Sleep helps your body to heal. Want to make healthy choices on your lunch break tomorrow? We often overeat and make unhealthy food choices when we're tired, so a good night's sleep can supercharge your diet efforts. Want to keep a level head for that stressful work meeting? You guessed it, good sleep helps to regulate hormones and stress levels, keeping you cool and collected in the face of whatever comes your way. With countless other benefits, sleep really does deserve to be at the top of your priorities list.

But it's not that easy, right? With the stresses and worries of everyday life, it's no wonder we often find ourselves awake in the small hours, struggling to switch off. That's why we've put together a collection of our favourite tips, to help you get that restful night of sleep you've been craving.

- Build A Routine -

Developing a good bedtime routine - sometimes called Sleep Hygiene, can be the key to success. Find out which restful activities work for you, and try to stick to a consistent time schedule every evening to help regulate your body clock, and get used to prioritising relaxation and rest. We know you're desperate to watch "just one more episode" of your favourite show, but it can wait; you'll thank yourself in the morning.

- Relaxing Activities -

This might be having a bath, curling up on the sofa with your favourite sleepy blend tea, reading a good book, watching a movie, or even practicing mindfulness or meditation. Whatever it is, allow yourself the time to indulge, and try to be truly present. No laptop on your lap finishing off work prep, no scrolling through your phone for the hundredth time (that blue light isn't helping), just be in the moment, allowing yourself to unwind.

- Perfect Your Space -

Ever notice how much better you sleep when the room is tidy and the bedding is clean? We've all heard the phrase "tidy house, tidy mind", but there's something to be said for it. Try to maintain your bedroom as a calm and clean environment. The rest of the house may be chaos, but if you can close the door on it all, and slip into some crisp, clean bedsheets, we can almost guarantee you'll find it easier to switch off. It's so much easier to forget about the pile of laundry if it's not on the floor beside you!
So de-clutter your space, turn off your phone, dim the lights, and give yourself permission to switch off for the day. Your mind, body, health and wellbeing will thank you in the morning.

Sweet dreams.
